Agriculture-Based Economic Development

Agriculture is much, much more than growing good crops, making fine maple syrup and raising healthy livestock. Profitable farm businesses require attention to strong record keeping, business analysis and planning, creative marketing, product development and packaging, value-added opportunities, public relations and even community development and tourism.

The Northern New York Agricultural Development Program (NNYADP) includes rural and agricultural economic development initiatives and provides technical assistance to existing and emerging farm-based business enterprises. Such efforts provide opportunities for farmers to add to their income streams, which in turn supports local communities and regional economies.
