Organic
Production
Fifteen to 20 percent increases in the demand for organic food for human
consumption and as feed for animal production coupled with premium prices
for certified organic farm crops have prompted growing interest by Northern
New York farmers in organic grain production. NNY farmers are also
interested in the organic dairy, vegetable and fruit production.
In 1994, the Cornell E.V. Baker Agricultural Research Farm at Willsboro, NY,
dedicated about 20 acres to organic fruit, vegetable and grain production
research.
